As well as running our usual sessions, Tolkien Studies and Philosophy & Culture want to run one or two panels on Tolkien and Philosophy. As usual, all philosophical approaches are welcome. Non-philosophers must make clear the connection of their project to the philosophical tradition.
We encourage submissions on topics concerning Philosophy and Tolkien based on your interests.
If you are interested in the having your paper be part of the special Joint Sessions, please submit an abstract to the Tolkien Studies Area
Please review the submission information and guidelines .
The abstract should be no more than 500 words (including presentation title) and complete contact information (name, institutional affiliation, mail and e-mail addresses, and telephone number). You must be a member of the PCA to submit an abstract. Only abstracts submitted through the PCA/ACA website may be considered for inclusion in the conference program.

A Note on Undergraduate Submissions:
These areas accept individual undergraduate submissions and panel proposals. At the conference these sessions will be chaired by an Area Chair or, in the case of a group from one institution, a supervising faculty member. Chairs and faculty are happy to mentor students. Any help needed will be given to make your presentation the most beneficial. If you have any questions, please send an email to all three of the area chairs listed below.
