CFP: Tolkien Society's Oxonmoot (hybrid)
Deadline for submitting proposal: midnight, UK time, June 12, 2024
The Co-Chairs of Oxonmoot, Elena Davidson and Asli Johnston, have asked people to circulate the following message encouraging people to submit proposals to the Tolkien Society’s event. They extended the original deadline for submitting proposals by a month, to midnight, UK time, on June 12.
The conference is scheduled for August 29-September 1, and you can learn more about the location, the events, the cost, and how to submit to present either online or in person here.
Even if you have not attended Oxonmoot, or any of the other Tolkien Society events before, I would strongly encourage you to do so. During the last few years, the Society has been working hard to open opportunities and diversify participation at all its events (some virtual, others, like Oxonmoot, hybrid).
I've participated in a number of their events (always virtually) and enjoyed the quality of the work and the experience immensely. I am not able to submit to Oxonmoot this year because I have submitted a proposal to another conference that takes place at about the same time.
The link for submitting your proposal are embedded in the email below. Good luck!
This year’s Oxonmoot is keen to welcome contributions from everyone, not only as participants but also as speakers! We’re reaching out to groups of Tolkien enthusiasts to see if we can broaden participation this year, especially online. If you want to present a topic you have researched and are enthusiastic about, but are unsure if it will fit, then doubt no more. We want to hear from you! Please apply here - we can help you if you are new to presenting or have questions about the process, please email the chairs of Oxonmoot at chair@oxonmoot.org.
