Narrator: It did not in fact look better with manual formatting. Ah, well, anyone interested can follow the link to see the presentation at _The Journal of Tolkien Research_ (open-access, no paywall).

Thank you for this! 👏

In a different field of reality I've been realising recently that standing still is going back - and if you don't push forward there will be no improvement and you may lose all that you've managed to achieve so far.

You are very welcome!

I think that the need to keep learning and growing is absolutely imperative for individuals, for communities, and for organizations and have been frustrated often during my involvement with past orgs where people do not want change of any sort!

This "compliance in advance" by T.S. leadership demonstrates a significant failure of judgement. It signals that antiracist academic scholarship is unwelcome, and it invites larger and more aggressive harassment campaigns in the future. They really misunderstand the nature of our historical moment and the history of Tolkien's far-right "fandom."

Thank you--and I agree!

I have no idea if what I said (or what you also point out) will have any effect on their thinking, but I wanted to try. If the leadership maintains this attitude, I will let my membership expire and focus efforts in other areas that are more welcoming.

This retreat because of "risk analysis" after the shift to a different status and the hiring of a paid CEO (insert rant on how much I have hated seeing fucking corporate speak and positions growing in academia) does seem doubly ironic.

Well said. It's unfortunate. I am glad you continue with the work.
